Tokyo International Dance Workshop ReAction

Tokyo international dance workshop ReAction was started in 2007 from the purpose of creating the place of the exchange and at the chance to learn of the ideal way, the mode of expression, the techniques, and the creativity, etc. of contemporary dance from the international perspective and it aims a further spread and the development of contemporary dance.
This year, as 5th edition, they invited Ted Stoffer from Belgium and 3 from Japan Shuji Onodera, Yukari Ota, and Takiko Iwabuchi and provided various practical programmes. Especially, this year continuing from the last year, they focused on “creation”. Providing two【creation courses】they gave participants to experience each teachers’ specific choreographic ideas and chance to research the possibilities of dance deeply. Also, they offered various programmes such as technique class, contact work, etc. that people from the beginner to professional could take according to their individual demand. Moreover, the result of 【creation workshop】and the process of the creation of a new international collaboration project based on 【research project】(ReAction2007-09)was opened to the public as 【Showing】 and 【Talking Session】.
121 workshop students and 144 spectators came through the entire program, and the Morishita studio was wrapped in people's heat every day. A lot of feedbacks friendly were sent by the student and the spectator through the questionnaire etc., as a result.

Dance Theatre LUDENS

Established in 1999. The name of company “LUDENS” is derived from “Homo Ludens” by Johan Huizinga meaning “playful people”. As the most important work, "Be", "Es", "Distance",“ Against Newton“, "Moments", and "Anonym" etc.. The works has been presented widely nationally and internationally (11countries) and it has received high acclaim. Ms. Iwabuchi received the ‘French Embassy Award for Young Choreographer’ and ‘Yokohama Culture Foundation Award’ for [Be]. Also received newcomer award from Japan Dance Critic Association for [Distance] in 2005. In addition to these artistic activities, the company has been producing ‘Tokyo International Dance Workshop/ReAction since 2007 .
