Lieko Shiga, Irana
The exhibition presents the work of 17 artists from ten different countries.
The artists were all born in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, and are active in a wide range of techniques: photography, sculpture, painting, installation etc. The materials employed are unconventional and include everything from light and sound to magnetic fluids and crushed glass.
The highly interesting artists presented in the exhibition has in many cases already attracted global attention, but mostly the artists and their works will be meeting a Nordic public for the first time.
Common to all the artists is an interest in seeing, perception, landscape and use of materials. A pervasive theme was the link between seeing and understanding, between the eye and the world. Several works touch too on the giddy - dizziness, visual disorders and hallucinations.
