Song Castle attendees
The 2011 Song Castle co-writing workshop was held from 8th to 11th of May 2011 at the Harjattula Manor near Turku, Finland, the 2011 European Capital of Culture. Song Castle is an excellent networking opportunity for music business professionals, as well a great place for writers to find partners. Song Castle brought together 51 people (songwriters, publishers, managers, record label people, singers) from all over the world (Japan, USA, UK, Germany, South Korea, Sweden, Denmark) for four days. Songwriters got briefings from record labels and publishers and wrote songs for their projects. Totally 20 songs were written, all in teams of three people. Also, lot of contacts were made and most of songwriters will continue working together after Song Castle.
Roundtable discussion at Song Castle for the publishers, record labels and managers created many new ideas and cooperation possibilities and gave better understanding of different markets for people who attended from different parts of the world.

Katsuhiko Sugiyama is an up and coming writer/arranger born in '82.
His writing style is words first followed by music as he puts most emphasis on the song's lyrical content.

The latest achievement includes the No.1 single hit by NEWS in March 2010, which sold over 250,000 copies, as well as a double-million digital single of a pop duo, Honey L Days signed by Avex.
