TENNISCOATS (Japan)
PASTACAS (Estonia)
At the first major CitySonic event, four Estonian underground record companies and concert promoters will join forces: the most active local indie label, Seksound; a record label created by the band 3Pead; the Odessa Pop series that organizers concerts featuring performers abroad; and the concert series ‘Featuring’.
With its multi-faceted program the festival will present local bands and solo artists that have made waves in 2011. A variety of Estonian bands representing a wide spectrum of styles will perform, while an outstanding foreign band will be invited as a guest.
Also Japanese band Tenniscoats and Estonian multi-instrumentalist and experimeental folk-pop musician Pastacas (Ramo Teder) will play at the festival performing music they plan to create in collaboration during Pastacas’ visit to Japan in summer 2011.
Tenniscoats are a Japanese indies pop duo comprised of Saya (lead vocals) and Takashi Ueno (guitar, saxophone). With the help of an ever-shifting lineup of backing musicians the Uneos make the kind of gentle, willowy, cerebral tunes in avant-garde, folk and indie-pop mood. Tenniscoats released their first EP, The Theme of Tenniscoats, via the Majikick label in 2000. Tenniscoats have toured Japan, Europe and Australia.
