Opening night of Ars Electronica
The theme of Festival Ars Electronica 2011 was "Origin - How it all begins". Several new challenges are attempted for instance; Ars Electronica collaborates with CERN which is the institute research origin of matter, and universe, on the other hands "Create Your World" which is a new festival is held at once for children and their family of Linz and neighbouring area. The final attendance figure-83,976-makes Ars Electronica 2011 the second most successful festival since 1979 in terms of the number of visitors, and the numbers of participated Japanese artists were 67, it was the second biggest number topped only by Austrian artists. The active one-week festival was held using all over the Linz city like : in the St. Mary's cathedral (Mariendom), CyberArts exhibition in OK center, Campus exhibition in Kunstuni, and surrounding the Ars Electronica Center, many tents and cars which were the venue of Create Your World.

Ars Electronica is an international platform which includes museum, R&D institute, competition & festival department in Linz, Austria for media art. Ars Electronica has been searching for a new field combined among art, technology and society since 1979. Combination between City of Linz and Ars Electronica is a good model of local community design as a prototype for urban renewal with cultural, artistic development. In September, during the Ars Electronica Festival, almost 100.000 people visit Linz from all over the world every year.
