Since its birth as a small Japanese film festival in 2006, CAMERA JAPAN Festival has continued to grow and broaden its program contents. Now with its 6th edition in making, CAMERA JAPAN has become the largest Japan related multidisciplinary cultural festival in the Benelux countries. The festival aims to convey the uniqueness and current status of Japanese culture to the public through premiere screenings of Japanese film, concerts, dance & live performances, art exhibitions, lectures, debates/discussion, and so on. CAMEAR JAPAN takes place annually in various Dutch cities. The main events take place in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. And some films will go on screening tours to other Dutch cities. CAMERA JAPAN Festival is organized by the non profit organization Stichting Tamago. Stichting Tamago was founded in 2005 by Dirk Zschunke (Germany), Alex Oost (Netherlands) and Yasuo Kishibe (Japan). And in 2010 Rik van Lente (Netherlands) joined the organization. All four organizers share same passion and obsession about Japanese cinema, music, literature, art, etc., despite their different cultural up-bringing, and they all contribute their expertise from different disciplines (Zschunke/architecture, Oost/master degree in Japanese language and Japanese sociology study, van Lente/ History teacher and fluent in Japanese, Kishibe/graphic design) in making this festival always versatile and interesting each year.
