If you trace Agano river on the map, it looks like some kind of roots of plant or blood vessels of animal. Rivers are only water streams on wrinkles of ground made by continent's movements. But image of the Dragon is there. In March 11th, the disastrous Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake hit Northern part of Japan, and people felt the existence of the Dragon. People lives at the mercy of the nature, even included in the nature, standing in awe of the nature, where originally the creativity stands for.
The Social Art proceeds charcoal making as one of lead to search people's life and creation of arts. Based on that, this project concludes to attend 3 exhibitions and unify them as art products: Three exhibitions are two events from 2 places around Agano river (Agano River, the Dragon King Festival and ART FRONTIER 2011) and one Exhibition hold at storehouse in Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture. Also they are planning to publish Social Art vol. 2, which would record this project and clarify where the creative power is as the source. They are going to ask Cultural Anthropologists and Sociologists to contribute to articles.

Social Art started with "Social Art Exhibition THE Market" in 2002 to connect Art activities with town activation activities. Ever since, Social Art consistently contribute ourselves for society utilizing Arts up until "Self powered cart + α Project" in 2010. This one is Art movement to connect economy capital with social capital through creativity with shaping art activities. Instead of having activity base, we stress on clarifying independent activity, we connect ourselves with different local activities and act with local people/resident.
