Art Project: "INNE RYTMY: nonviolent revolutions"
From a meeting in Berlin to a collaborative art project rooting in the history and culture in Sopot
The art project “INNE RYTMY: nonviolent revolutions” was taken place in the northern Polish port city, Sopot. The project organizer Ms. Weronika Morawiec participated in the European Capital of Culture Presentation and Networking in Berlin held in December 2019. She met a Berlin-based artist, Mr. Yuki Nishimura at the event and then, inviting him to the art project was realized.
Mr. Nishimura conducted research for artistic activities in Sopot with other participating artists. They listened to the voices of local people and visited a local museum to explore the history of the city. At a panel discussion held during the project, he and the participants discussed non-violent measures to enable social change. It got great interest from the participating citizens and local media.
In the future, each of the participating artists, including Mr. Nishimura is planning the development of this project and is considering implementing projects and workshops that involve local citizens of Sopot.
