The Japanese Art of Kimono - Elegance, History and sense of Eternity
Japanese music and culture captivated the Plovdiv audience
Two years have passed since the successful concert "Japanese Song Meets Bulgarian Song” in Plovdiv 2019 (Bulgaria). This time the project was further developed: in addition to the song concert, an exhibition was held to present the traditional beauty of Japan, including kimono, tea ceremony, flower arrangement and calligraphy.
The concert was performed by Ms Neli Koycheva, a Bulgarian alto singer who lives in Japan, and the audience was enchanted by the beauty of the Japanese songs. The exhibition also included a comprehensive lecture on kimono, including Nishijin textiles, crests and furisode, by Ms Snejana Nakatani, who designs clothes using kimono. In addition, Ms Kyoko Ueda, a calligrapher, and Ms Hideko Nakatani, a tea ceremony artist/flower arrangement artist, took the stage online to give demonstrations and lectures to promote understanding and interest in Japanese beauty. The project was such a success that it is hoped that the exhibition will be extended and held in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, and that it will be held in other countries in the future.
