Masami Aihara began a career in 1987 while a student at Tama Art University in Japan and has continued to present mainly sculptural expression.
Without regard to material, she has been expressing in the form of a relationship with nature that emerges from the inner self.
Her longstanding theme is "water" and creates forms based on the impressions her receives from plants, humans and sounds related to the theme.
Since 1991, she has participated in international sculpture symposiums in Georgia, Greece, Vietnam, etc. In 1997, opened a studio in Obihiro, Hokkaido and has been involved in urban development, NPO activities and store design.
Since 2006, she has participated in artist-in-residence programs in Finland, England, and the Netherlands and continues to organize exchange workshops.
Currently based in Obihiro, Hokkaido, she collaborates with NPO activities, the Art Brut Obihiro exhibition and local gallery projects with a focus on sculpture creation.
