A photograph was found at a flea market in Berlin. It is a memory photo that would have been lost forever. People die twice. The first time is physical death. And the second is death by oblivion. In this work, hand-embroidery has given new expression to these photographs that everyone has forgotten. It is a work that will come to life for the third time, and it would be expected to become someone's memory somewhere.
More recently, I have been working on Japanese photography. In Japanese custom, photographs are personal, and there is no custom of buying and selling. Most of the photographs are found in my surroundings. Engaging with the photographs means engaging with memories of the past.
With each layer of thread, the photograph transforms from a mere record into a tangible memory.
