AICA Japan was established in 1954 as a national branch of AICA (International Association of Art Critics) established in 1950 in Paris. Since then, AICA Japan has been consistently active as the largest organization of art critics in Japan, supporting the members’ professional activities as well as the autonomous and vigorous environment for artistic expressions. Taking advantage of the AICA membership, members of AICA Japan regularly visit international art events or museums to publish their reviews to keep Japanese audience informed of up-to-date contemporary trends and activities. AICA Japan has also been active in creating meaningful bonds with international art communities by acting as the representative of Japanese art world in many occasions or (co-)organizing events such as international symposia and exhibitions.
