The company is Japan's leading contemporary dance company. The timeless sensibility of up-and-coming top dancers and choreographer Un Yamada transcends generations and cultures, attracting people from all over the world. It has received numerous awards from the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan and so on, and has received high artistic acclaim. It organises solo, duo, small and large group repertoire tours with 1-2 new works per year. It is also characterised by its active involvement in the field of children's education and welfare, or in collaborative works with science, fashion, and traditional performing arts. Director Un Yamada has a unique style. she has experience in gymnastics, butoh and ballet, and diverse life experiences such as working for a financial company and running a cram school. She is looking at Japanese society and constructing the boundary living as a human being and artist. She visited 23 cities in 11 countries as a Cultural Envoy of Japan, 2017. She also has directed theatre productions and puppet plays, writing script as well as choreographed operas and large-scale events such as the closing ceremonies of the two 2020 Tokyo Olympics with company members.
