I create textiles using the traditional Japanese kasuri technique. While following the traditional technique, I want to create "cloth" that can be appreciated in contemporary spaces. I believe the original role of "cloth" for humans was to protect us from the outside world, like fur and leather for wild animals. In terms of psychological protection, "cloth" has a history of deep involvement with people from ritual, decorative, social, and cultural perspectives. It is a thin cloth. (Therefore, patterns are expressed by the plain weave kasuri technique using fine threads.) It must be made of natural fibers such as silk, ramie, wool or cotton. The fabric must be dyed with natural dyes. They are soft and can embrace people. And when you wear it, something wild and delicate comes to mind. I would like to create my works based on such a concept.
