EU-Japan Fest Domestic Event
Meet Up ECoC! – Face to Face –
Two Days to Encounter, Learn, and Connect with the European Capitals of Culture
Culture and art connect people, transform communities, and shape the future—that is the essence of the European Capitals of Culture (ECoC).
The European Capitals of Culture is one of the most well-known cultural initiatives of the European Union (EU). Launched in 1985, it celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Each year, one to three cities are designated as European Capitals of Culture, and over the course of one year, they host a wide array of cultural and artistic programs across various genres. Artists from more than 100 countries, including Japan, participate in these events.
Since 1993, the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee has been fostering collaboration with the European Capitals of Culture. This summer, it will host a two-day domestic event, “Meet Up ECoC! – Face to Face –”, where participants can explore the forefront of ECoC and discover new possibilities for collaboration between Japan and Europe. This event will be a springboard for new co-creation across diverse fields such as contemporary art, music, performing arts, architecture, and crafts.
We look forward to your participation!
