As an official cultural program of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Tokyo 2020 NIPPON Festival “ONE -Our New Episode- Presented by Japan Airlines-” will be held online under the theme “Towards the Realization of a Symbiotic Society”. The event will be held online as “Our Glorious Future -KANAGAWA 2021- Kagayaku Mirai ga Mieru Kanagawa 2021”. On the website (https://kanagawa.nippon-fes-one.tokyo2020.org), five media artists, including Mihara’s “Study of Air”, will deliver videos using the installation exhibition scenery.
Mihara’s work is a wind installation based on actual measurement data of the elusive “air,” which is also used as a metaphor for communication in Japanese society. A dialogue between the exhibition curator, Haruka Fujikawa, and Mihara will be inserted into the exhibition video with narration only, and will be released on September 3 as a video work that captures the atmosphere of the site, including the situation where the exhibition was held without an audience.
