The final selection results for the European Capital of Culture for 2025 in Germany were announced on October 28.
Out of the five nominated cities, Chemnitz won the title of European Capital of Culture!

The ceremony was held online, connecting the candidate cities with Europa House in Berlin and the panel members.
At the moment of the announcement, the Chemnitz 2025 team members who were watching the monitors in the city hall and they burst with joy!
In the evening, fireworks were set off to the tune of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” which is the European anthem.
The entire city was filled with cheerful air to celebrate the title win.
