Theater Performance "Kukoku no Kyouon (空谷の跫音)"
New forms of collaboration and creativity created within the constraints
Berlin-based artist Mr Keisuke Sugawara writes and directs “Kukoku no Kyouon", a collaborative stage work of dance, theatre and music. Mr Sugawara and Ms Christina Dyekjær's project 'mellem to' staged their second work 'Lige så stille...' in 2020, when interacting with others physically has been restricted. The performance "Kukoku no Kyouon" is a spin-off from that work, created with words, body, music and designed light to draw the audience into the work and allow them to interpret it in their own way. They faced challenges; the cancellation of a performance in Europe before the Japan tour and changes to the cast due to travel restrictions. However, they welcomed a new dancer to the work and even took on the challenge of live streaming. It enabled not only the audience at the Kagurazaka Session House, but those in Japan and abroad to see it. Inspired by the support he saw in Europe for sole traders and retailers, Mr Sugawara worked with Japanese sole traders on crowdfunding projects, focusing on what he could do now. Do not miss his upcoming works in both Europe and Japan.
