My artwork explores the relationship between technology and humanity through research that combines intuition and theory, a process I call "Sanpo / " (walking). The creation of my artworks is always an extension of the technology inherent in handcraft, and I view the act of creation as a transaction between nature and humanity. I question the post-modern structure of conflict between the two. In my practice, I am influenced by the relativity of reproduction techniques in printmaking, approaching technology from psychological, ecological, and anthropological perspectives. I interpret the processes and structures that arise from my own background, presenting them through a wide range of media: installation, objects, social art, two-dimensional works, video, and sound. I believe that the production process carries a personal ritual quality, reflecting my spiritual, cultural, and historical background. The work itself carries a craft-like lightness, but it is only fully realised when accompanied by process, physicality, and historicity.
