#MeetArtist! Singing Resonates in Croatia: San-in Junior Chorus “Little Phoenix” Performs in Rijeka

A Yonago-based choir group, San-in Junior Chorus Little Phoenix, performed at a music festival in Rijeka, Croatia (European Capital of Culture 2020) earlier this month. During their visit to Croatia, they interacted with the local choir, performed Japanese and Croatian songs at a care home for the elderly, and also experienced a home stay.

Prior to the visit, Ms. Reiko Hara, representative of San-in Junior Chorus Little Phoenix, and Ms. Maya Šajatović, who teaches a local boys’ and girls’ choir in Croatia, paid a courtesy visit to Yonago City Mayor Mr. Takashi Igi on March 19. Celebrating its 65th anniversary, San-in Junior Chorus Little Phoenix has been active not only in Japan but also in international exchange. In addition to this year’s Rijeka performance, the group has participated in the European Capitals of Culture Plovdiv 2019 (Bulgaria) and Wrocław 2016 (Poland).
