Kiruna Selected as European Capital of Culture 2029!
Sweden’s Kiruna, home to one of the world’s largest iron mines, has been chosen as the host city for the European Capital of Culture 2029. As an Arctic city where rich nature and industry blend together, Kiruna’s unique charm will enrich the European cultural scene. In 2029, the title will be held by Sweden and Poland (Lublin).
This is the third time for Sweden to hold the title, following Stockholm and Umeå. It is also the third Arctic city to be selected, after Bodø2024 and Oulu2026.
