I started calligraphy as a pastime at an early age, and since becoming a teacher, I have taught traditional calligraphy. However, I realized that calligraphy is only a form of beauty that can only be appreciated in Japan or in kanji-speaking countries, and I am now participating in a movement to view calligraphy as a language art. Based on the idea that calligraphy can be a conceptual contemporary art form that can be accepted in a world that does not know the Japanese language or kanji, I create works that combine characters.
