Misato Shimizu

“The Hedgehog’s Wish”

Dancer Ms. Misato Shimizu actively performs in Japan and overseas. She also collaborates with other dancers and artists in addition to her individual projects. Moreover, she participated in “Session Online Theatre” organized by Kagurazaka Session House which was one of the #KeepgoingTOGETHER programs, and performed her solo work “MADE IN JAPAN”!
This time, she reveals her new work online. Keep your eyes on it!

Misato Shimizu (Contemporary Dance Artist) and Chihiro Takamiya (Actress) are going to release a short film of “The Hedgehog’s Wish” from 23rd October 2020 – 22nd November 2020 online. “The Hedgehog’s Wish” is written by a Dutch author, Toon Tellegen. The story is written for the adult and full of pathos. (Performed in Japanese)

Performance in Izumo “On -Musubi” &
in Hiroshima “Echo from 1936”

An instrumental duo mama!milk delivers music not only at concert halls but also at various historical and cultural heritages. This time, the group performs at Former Taisha Station (Izumo city, Shimane) and Former Bank of Japan, Hiroshima Branch (Hiroshima city, Hiroshima). Let’s listen to music played on historical sites!

The trip began in August with a tour of historical architecture in each region, starting with the Museum of Kyoto, and continued on to the Bansuiso (Matsuyama) and Iwate Prefecture public hall, Room 21 (Morioka).
The tour continues to the former Taisha Station (Izumo) and the former Bank of Japan, Hiroshima Branch (Hiroshima).
The performances will be filmed and directed by filmmaker Yohei Cogi and are now available on the mama!milk official Youtube channel.
We hope you will enjoy them with the memories of each town.

Glove puppetry (布袋戲 pò͘-tē-hì)

Foundation Modern Puppet Center was founded in 1968 by Puppet Theater Hitomiza. The Center has engaged with traditional puppetry as well as modern puppet performances; it has introduced and invited puppet shows in Japan and other countries; it has produced original puppet shows, workshops, and exhibitions.
The center reveals digested films from its program archive focusing on puppet performances in Asia on its YouTube channel. Following the first video showing a puppet theatre in a south-eastern region in India, this time, the second film capturing scenes of a Taiwanese traditional puppetry has been available! Let’s check it out.

Asian Puppetry Collection VOL.2 Glove puppetry (布袋戲pò͘-tē-hì) Glove puppetry (布袋戲pò͘-tē-hì) is a traditional puppet theatre in Taiwan. The dexterity of the master puppeteer’s manipulation of the puppet, the accompaniment of the orchestra, and the poetic spoken parts of the voice actors amuses audience. Asian Puppetry Collection Since 1993, Foundation Modern Puppet Center invites Asian puppet company, from traditional group to modern theater. So far, the invitees were from many regions including India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, China, etc. We will introduce some digests of our archive videos.
