Theater Company 1980 was founded in 1980 by the acting course alumni of Imamura’s Film school, Yokohama Broadcasting Technical School (Currently: Japan Institute of Moving Images). Under the tutelage of Imamura, the company inherited endless energy for creation and spirit of human inquiry. Also, Theater Company 1980 is the only company that was created by Imamura’s apprentices.
