After graduating from university, I studied under the director Yukio Ninagawa and joined the Ninagawa Studio, and in 1978 I joined Juro Kara's Jokyo Gekijo.
Under the direct tutelage of Ninagawa and Kara, the two leading directors of the "underground small theaters," I acquired expertise in tent theater, a unique style of expression, and founded Shinjuku Ryozanpaku in 1987.

The nameless people of the city are vividly depicted.

There was a canal on the stage and it was full of water!
Outdoor plays in summer are wild and have a festival-like atmosphere.

In the last scene, the curtain at the back of the tent fell down and audiences saw outside.
In the last scene of "The Bengal Tiger," an excavator came in from outside and took the heroine away from the tent.
