Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY) is a dance house that plans and manages projects specializing in the facilitation of a dance environment for professionals and fostering creators opened in June 2020. The dance house aims to be a conjunction point among artists in various fields, researchers, and audiences as well as dancers and choreographers.
Dancer and choreographer, Mr. Ryu Suzuki who participates in this tryout was awarded Prize for young choreographer from French Embassy, MAZDANSA Prize, and FITS Award from Sibiu International Theatre Festival at Yokohama Dance Collection 2017. He also performed at Sibiu International Theatre Festival in 2018.

Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY) is a newly opened performing arts center in Yokohama, Japan. Our Associate Choreographer, Ryu Suzuki, will be presenting his new choreography piece here as his second tryout performance on Thursday, November 14th. The interdisciplinary collaborative team includes musicians, dramaturges, producers, and architects in their early 20s and 30s. Get ready for the electrifying chemistry they will bring to the stage!

Arts Flanders Japan co-organizes the exhibition “Art Brut: In search of its European roots: Artworks of the Dr. Guislain Museum” with Dr. Guislain Museum, Kanazawa College of Art, University of Fukui! The exhibition will be opened on the 19th of November, at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa! On its opening day, they have an online symposium and panel discussion. The participation is free but requires your registration (1,000 people maximum/ first come, first served). Do not miss to register in advance! There will be a virtual tour during the exhibition period. Please do not miss this occasion to see artworks from the excellent collection of outsider art of the Dr. Guislain Museum (Ghent)!

Online Live Streaming of Puppetry Performance “Three Musketeers”

The Czech Republic is known as a country with vibrant activities of puppet theatres. In 2015, Pilsen, a city located in the western area of the nation hosted the European Capital of Culture. Within its programs, “Gauche the Cellist”, a joint production by the Czech-based puppetry artist Mr. Noriyuki Sawa and the JT Biohistory Research Hall in Osaka was held at the Alfa Theater in the city.
The Alfa Theater which was established in 1966 has delivered puppetry performances in Czech and abroad and attracted a lot of people. This autumn, the theater conducts a series of online live distributions of puppetry performances every Saturday.
On 14 November (Sat), “Three Musketeers” will be streamed. This work was delivered also in Japan in the past. The video will be available for 7 days since the live distribution as an archive. Let’s watch it!
